The local food scene on the Sunshine Coast is alive and kicking, and this tour is the perfect way to experience it. Not only is the region producing some amazing local food, but it has also seen the rise to a booming craft beer scene which has formed a natural partnership with local producers and local farmers.
This new tour offering from Creative Tours and Events showcases the best of Sunshine Coast Hinterland, visiting a local coffee roaster, a fruit and vegetable farm, local wagyu farmer, with the final stop at Brouhaha Brewery and Restaurant for a delicious lunch featuring the local produce from the previous stops.
Our first stop is a visit to a local coffee roaster who gives us some insight into the coffee industry, roasting process and most importantly a fresh cup of coffee to start the day. From here we make our way up to the Hinterland to a private farm that grows unique seasonal produce for high end restaurants. Wandering through the farm we taste a range freshly grown vegetables, edible flowers and anything else that may be in season.
Then it’s off to a local boutique Wagyu farmer to hear about how he raises healthy cattle that he provides solely to a local restaurant, which is also our lunch destination – Brouhaha Brewery. Brouhaha use a range of local suppliers in their restaurant, from honey, mushrooms, eggs, cheese and seafood to name a few. They also send the leftover grains from the brewing process back to the Wagyu farmer to feed the cattle, which in turn they buy back and use nose to tail in the brewery kitchen.
Our four course lunch includes fresh seasonal local produce from the farms we visited earlier in the day, and is expertly paired with a range of beer styles brewed on site at Brouhaha. We are joined at lunch by the chef and brewer who share the local stories behind the food and beer.
As we say farewell to Brouhaha we make one last stop to take in the beautiful views of the Glass House Mountains at Mary Cairncross Scenic Reserve before descending back down the range to the coast.
